Beheading Daisies

Baba shaves religiously
he believes he will
find discipline
under all that stubble

Mama is on the front lawn
beheading daisies
with a ride-on mower

I revert
rescue bumble bees from the skylight
refuse to play God
to reach a settlement between
the squirrel and the elm tree
the fox and the rabbits

At night I cry for everything
lost since.
