Lemon Tarts
Lemon tarts, again like a full moon, somewhere sit on a bakery shelf and if I stand there I
would point and praise a yellow moon, smaller, edible, smelling of lemons, the scents
of oceans and mountains and Meyer lemon trees growing outside in my SoCal backyard, just wander up come the ripe season and pull one off the branch growing at eye level and just stand
there or sit down if you have a chair, then easily peel the fruit and lick what leaks onto your
fingers, and eat a slice of future pastry peering back at me from the bakery shelf, and you know
my taste of it will create a vast happiness in myself and the world that includes you still stuck in the small orchard, a bakery a long walk away, the moon even farther.
