George Perreault has published in journals in the US and elsewhere. He has published four books of poetry and is currently working on two chapbook projects.
a friend asks about loss

clouds to the south lenticular and tinged with dawn,
two ranges and a basin away his dad has died and
he wonders when absence abates, then fears instead
that it might, that sledge and stone find sleep at last
under time’s duvet as our histories rise particular
but predictable: mother. father. brother, sister, wife
and child: all of that and no wiser, no wiser noon or
night, each death pressed into fossils to fuel our long
journey, in quiet or ache, only to reach this last station
where pain is the deepest gift we can give or take.
