Mama, fire. a s he s
the only metaphor for death
is itself because every song sings
backwards behind a mirror.
the nearest
we have come
to healing
is with a metaphor
of death
hanging on the roof of the hope that lingers our heart.
or did our country
mistake our cries for euthanasia?
yes,
our people found a hobby
–sleeping on the street
with bullets in their heads
& we pray janazah for the people
we shared salam with yesterday.
the truth is,
we can't pray
without hiding
our bodies.
?how long until we find ourselves
in the mouth of the street—
question become answer
when a country is at the verge of war.
humming earth's havoc hymn.
mama,
fire. a s he s.
